More Information
** 327 Squadron has already received more EOIs than places available for the 2026 intake and has closed recruiting. Those who have submitted EOIs will be contacted over coming days to advise results**
* When applying for a place we recommend only applying for your preferred Squadron. If you apply to additional squadrons (besides 327 Squadron) it may potentially disappoint if we do not proceed with your application in deference to your other squadron application *
327 Squadron is the third oldest Australian Air Force Cadets squadron in the Australian Capital Territory and is now over 5 years old. The Squadron parades on Thursday nights (during the ACT school term) between 1830-2130h at Burgmann Anglican School in Gungahlin.
327 Squadron conducts one recruit intake per year from 1 October to commence at the start of the next calendar year. Expressions of interest open on 1 October and for the last four years we have received more EOIs than places available early on the 1st of Ocober.
Cadets at 327 Squadron get experience and opportunities in a wide variety of activites; including but not limited to, aviation, service knowledge, team building, drill, personal development, fieldcraft, survival, rifle shooting, cyber/coding, drones, Dining In Nights and several other subjects and experiences. For specific joining requirements, please review the "Requirements to become a cadet" in How to Join | Australian Air Force Cadets (AAFC).
In addition to our regular Thursday night training parades during ACT school terms, we also run a wide variety of weekend activities. These include gliding weekends, powered flying experiences (sometimes in Service aircraft), firearms training, leadership development activities and bivouacs. Our cadets also have the opportunity to attend Wing camps and courses, such as powered and glider flying training, and Personal Development and Leadership courses during school holidays. Many of these holiday camps and courses are conducted at Defence bases throughout New South Wales. Many of these camps are free of charge to cadets.
During their time at 327 Squadron, cadets will experience a range of activities and opportunities that are beneficial to themselves now and into the future. In particular, cadets will often be given the opportunity to manage a project, take on a particular role, or even teach a class of their peers.
327 Squadron is currently the largest of the AAFC Squadrons in the ACT and was recognised as the 3 Wing Squadron of the year in 2024 and has been selected as a finalist as an organisation of impact in Lifeline's Spirit of Canberra Awards in 2025. We have had finalists in the Governors Sword of Honour selection for multiple years running.
